We specialize in Giclée fine art printing. Giclée Fine Art prints at iLAB Photo are printed using the latest professional Fine Art inkjet printers such as Epson SC-P20000 & Stylus Pro 9000. We have partnered with the three most distinct paper manufacturers, Fotospeed, Canson and Hahnemuhle. We offer a wide range of more than 30 Fine art and photo papers. More details below.

Benefit of FineArt Printing

FineArt papers carry a lifetime of between 75-150 years depending on the condition of framing materials used for the paper and storage environment. In addition, the pigment ink used in our high-end printers has a longer UV stability and covers a wider gamut range than the conventional chemically sensitized photographic process.

Photo papers have a maximum lifetime of 30 years and the reason why many photographers choose this type of paper is a matter of cost and sometimes the similarity to C-prints. However, in combination of the pigment Ink and above-mentioned printers, the print quality is superior to C-prints. Colour gamut is wider and blacks are richer.

What is Giclee?

Giclée is a term coined by printmaker Jack Duganne in the 90s for fine art digital prints made on inkjet printers. It was originally intended to differentiate their new process of large-format, high-resolution inkjet print production from inferior mass-produced printing. Nowadays, the term giclée is also associated with inkjet printing that uses archival, fade-resistant inks on fine art papers. When we print this way, the print looks closest to the original with archival quality.

Hahnemuhle Cezanne Canvas 430gsm

Hahnemühle Cézanne Canvas is a heavy inkjet canvas made of pure cotton, with an elegant, finely woven surface texture. The natural white canvas contains no optical brighteners and boasts a beautiful, natural shade of white. Together with the premium matt inkjet coating, it produces outstanding print results with excellent reproduction of colour and detail, deep black and exceptional contrasts.

Hahnemuhle FineArt Baryta 325gsm

Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta is a bright white, cellulose-based FineArt inkjet paper with an inkjet coating specially tailored for FineArt use. The clearly visible, exquisite felt structure lends the paper its lovely soft feel and tactile surface texture to produce prints with a stunning three-dimensional quality and depth. The high-gloss premium inkjet coating guarantees outstanding print results with perfect reproduction of colour and detail, deep blacks and striking contrasts.

Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Metallic 340gsm

Hahnemühle PhotoRag® Metallic is a silvery-shimmering FineArt inkjet paper with a specially formulated inkjet coating for FineArt use. The natural white cotton paper contains no optical brighteners and has the characteristic Photo Rag® surface structure and sumptuous feel. Photo Rag® Metallic features a special silvery-shimmering surface finish.

Hahnemuhle Rice Paper 100gsm

This laid-finished paper is designed for fine art reproductions of Asian ink paintings (Sumi-e). It gives each print the appearance and significance of an original ink drawing.

High White Smooth 315 is 100% cotton and pH neutral, fine art paper with a smooth surface. A white base and state of the art ink-receiving layer, delivers a high D-MAX and wide colour gamut. This paper is highly recommended for Gicleé printing. The paper is approved by the Fine Art Trade Guild and when used in conjunction with pigment inks will ensure a print life of more than 85 years.

Platinum Baryta 300gsm

Platinum Baryta 300 is 100% acid-free, Fine Art paper with a smooth unglazed gloss surface. A natural white base and state of the art micro-porous ink receiving layer delivers a high D-MAX (2.7) and wide colour gamut. Platinum Baryta 300 reveals delicate highlights and smooth transitions to shadows for both colour and B&W printing. The paper is approved by the Fine Art Trade Guild and when used in conjunction with pigment inks will ensure a print life of more than 85 years.

Fotospeed Photo Papers

Digital Contact 80µ

Digital Contact Film has been specifically developed for printing contact negatives through an inkjet printer. The film can be used for any darkroom process, from alternative processes (Cyanotype and Argyrotype printing) to contact printing onto silver gelatine papers. Digital Contact Film is instant dry and water resistant.
